Radxa Penta SATA Hat: Connect Up to 5 HDDs to Raspberry Pi 5

Radxa Penta SATA HAT has been introduced as an innovative $45 add-on board that significantly expands the storage capabilities of the Raspberry Pi 5. This device allows users to connect up to five SATA hard drives or SSDs, making it an interesting solution for creating network-attached storage (NAS) devices.

Previously designed for Radxa’s own single-board computers, the Penta SATA HAT is now compatible with the Raspberry Pi 5, thanks to the latter’s support for PCIe connections via a new FPC cable connector.

Key features of the Radxa Penta SATA HAT include:

  • Four SATA interfaces plus an eSATA connector, supporting both 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch drives.
  • Software support for RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 5 configurations.
  • Connectors for an optional fan or OLED display for displaying storage information or other details.
  • A 12V power input and an ATX power interface for connecting a PSU.

The package also includes an eSATA to SATA cable and screws for attaching the Penta SATA HAT to a Raspberry Pi 5, ensuring users have everything they need to get started.
